Oscar Finds the Treasure

Meet Oscar and his friends who go on a treasure hunt and have great fun searching for clues and solving them together. Oscar is a smart otter who sometimes finds words and talking tricky. In the story, we hear how Oscar uses different strategies to help him to communicate with his friends. These helpful tips are reinforced by Ladybird Jemima a the bottom of each of the relevant pages. One in ten children have significant difficulties with talking and understanding spoken words. This affects communication with family and friends, learning at school, reading development, and self-esteem. This book is for teachers and parents/carers to read to children with language difficulties, including those with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). It may also be helpful for children who have dyslexia, have challenges with listening and attention, or have anxieties about speaking up when they are unsure. It aims to help children feel understood and build their confidence in communication.
